This is just a quick update to say that I haven't forgotten about the fact that I'm studying kanji. I have been slacking a bit (I blame Spiritsnare for that) but I'm going back to looking up, practicing, and blogging about the kanji I'm learning, starting now. To start, 6 kanji I knew but needed to really clarify and define:
右 - migi, u - "right" as in 右手 (right hand), 右翼 (right-wing), 右利き (right-handed).
左 - hidari, sa - "left" as in 左手 (left hand), 左翼 (left-wing).
名 - na, mei - "name" as in 名前 (name), あだ名 (nickname), 有名 (famous), 名人 (an expert), 名字 (family name).
外 - soto, gai, hazu - "outside" as in 外 (outside), 外れ (to be off the mark) 外れる (to be separated), 以外 (other than), 外人 (gaijin), 例外 (the exception).
友 - tomo, yuu - "friend" as in 友達 (friend), 友人 (friend), 親友 (best friend).
後 - ato, go, kou - "after" as in 後 (afterwards), 最後 (the end), 後ろ (behind).
